• International Energy Agency (IEA): The IEA collaborates with governments and industries to shape a secure and sustainable energy future. It provides authoritative analysis, data, policy recommendations, and real-world solutions to help countries ensure secure and sustainable energy for all. The IEA publishes several reports and data sets relevant to the European battery industry.
• Volta Foundation: As a global not-for-profit association with over 50,000 battery professionals and 160 member companies, the Volta Foundation fosters collaboration, innovation, and advocacy within the battery industry. Its Annual Battery Reports, sourced from top industry and academic experts, provide comprehensive overviews of the latest battery research, policy, and business landscapes.
• Global Battery Alliance (GBA): Founded in 2017 at the World Economic Forum, the GBA is a public-private collaboration platform aiming to establish a sustainable battery value chain by 2030. It drives key initiatives like the Battery Passport and focuses on critical minerals, energy access, and circularity.

• Joint Research Centre (JRC): The European Commission’s JRC offers independent, evidence-based science and knowledge, supporting EU policies to positively impact society. It contributes to the development of secondary legislation for the EU battery regulation and publishes several related reports.
• Raw Materials Information System (RMIS): The RMIS covers the entire value chains of raw materials, considering their full life cycle in the context of sustainability, including supply risks and circularity. It addresses a broad range of thematic areas, including policy, sectorial and technology demand, supply risk, criticality, resilience, circular economy, and trade-related analyses.
• Transport & Environment (T&E): An independent think tank and NGO, T&E works to decarbonize transport. It covers battery topics and promotes strict environmental and social safeguards for battery supply chains, ensuring the transition to electric vehicles is sustainable and just.
• VDMA: As the largest network organization for the machinery and equipment manufacturing industry in Germany and Europe, VDMA represents the industry’s economic, technical, and scientific interests. It has a dedicated department for battery machine and plant construction, providing access to market studies and technology roadmaps.

This community includes initiatives like BEPA, Batteries Europe, BATTERY 2030+, and the two IPCEIs, all collaborating in the battery sector. Their joint mission is to drive European research and innovation in batteries, concretized through co-organized activities, events, official statements, and joint publications. A central publication is the Strategic Research & Innovation Agenda, which identifies key R&I challenges and sets priorities for battery research across the value chain.
