BatteRIes Europe launches call for experts

The Communication of the European Commission on Long Term Climate Strategy identifies that electrification will play a strong role in decarbonising EU economy, and that battery technology is key to enable electrification, both for the energy and transport sectors. The European Battery Alliance (EBA) was set up to promote innovation and the business value chain for batteries and their contribution to climate objectives, and support for Research and Innovation in battery technologies is one of the key instruments to make the EBA successful.

To find synergies between private and public as well as national and EU R&I funding, the European Commission has created “BatteRIes Europe” a new European Technology and Innovation Platform (ETIP). The new platform will become a focal point of information, exchanges, priority setting and co-operation on batteries R&I throughout the EU, while establishing strong relations with existing forums. It will play an important role in the support for battery technologies in Horizon Europe. Its kick-off meeting will take place on 25 June 2019 in Brussels.

BatteRIes Euope has now opened a call for experts to contribute in one of the 6 thematic Work Groups, as explained in the application form that you can download here: Expression of interest_BatteriesEurope_WGexperts. The call for expression of interest that is open until 16 June 2019 and should be sent to info@batterieseurope.eu (e-mail subject “Application to Batteries Europe”).
