Dear EBA250 Key Stakeholder,
With only two weeks left, we are delighted to unveil the agenda and speakers for our upcoming EBA event. Thanks to your concerted efforts, the European battery value chain continues to grow. However, recent events such as the war in Ukraine and the adoption of the US Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) threaten the progress achieved so far and hamper the investment climate and competitiveness of the battery industry in Europe. Initiatives like the US IRA combined with rising energy prices create immediate difficulties for Europe to attract new investments into the battery value chain.

Europe has reacted and the publication of the Net Zero Industry Act and the Critical Raw Materials Act, is a good first step to enhance the EU model! The work started by the European Battery Alliance to stay ahead of competitors will only succeed if the EU acknowledges the change of paradigm in global trade and embraces the changed rules of the game. It is paramount that industry and policy-makers act jointly to complete and future-proof the EU regulatory toolbox.
The purpose of this event is to continue the conversation with policy-makers and the relevant stakeholders on what is needed to ensure the competitiveness of the EU battery industry and preserve Europe’s attractiveness for investments. We need more concrete actions to ensure that Europe remains an attractive region for investments along the whole battery value chain. The time to act and work on an Accelerated Action Plan for the European battery industry is NOW!
