European Battery Alliance: shaping Europe’s new industrial approach
On June 12, Vice-President Šefčovič in charge of the Energy Union met the Board of the European Investment Bank (EIB). In its speech, Maroš Šefčovič insisted on the tremendous progress made in the frame of the European Battery Alliance, also thanks to the support of the EIB. Whereas a number of challenges still have to be addressed for the EU to reap the benefit of the massive battery market and capture a great part of the 400 GWh forecast demand in Europe by 2025, Vice-President underlined the importance of such initiative. The European Battery Alliance could very well indeed serve as an example for other lighthouse initiatives, supporting the design of more European industrial policies in the coming years.
