Just Transition Platform – Coal Regions Virtual Week and Carbon-Intensive Regions Seminar
The third edition of the Just Transition Platform organised by the European Commission’s Directorates-General for Regional Policy and Energy will take place online from Monday, April 26, 14:00 to Thursday, April 29, 15:00 (CET).
All stakeholders from EU coal , carbon and fossil fuel-intensive regions are invited to join the event that will be opened by Elisa Ferreira, Commissioner for Cohesion and Reforms and Kadri Simson, Commissioner for Energy. Like past editions, it integrates the Coal Regions Virtual Week and Carbon-intensive Regions Seminar and their dedicated sessions.
Several thematic sessions will be organised to address various transition challenges and investment opportunities for coal carbon and fossil fuel-intensive regions. We will be participating in the session “Investing in the Battery Value Chain” taking place on Wednesday, April 28, 13:00-15:00 CET. This session will explore the opportunities for former coal regions and carbon-intensive regions to contribute to battery value-chains, for instance linked to resource extraction or production.
