Live Talk: Strategies to overcome the skills gap in the battery industry
Welcome to the Live Talk: Strategies to overcome the skills gap in the battery industry organised by the accompanying research of the IPCEI that is managed by VDI/VDE Innovation and Technik GmbH on behalf of the German Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy. The online event will take place on 28 October, 16:30-17:30 CET.
With the expansion of production capacities and creation of thousands of new jobs along the battery value chain, the need for a highly skilled workforce increases across Europe. To keep pace with these developments and tackle the shortage of qualified employees, it is essential to understand the industry’s demands and the skills required.
The Live Talk will welcome Katarina Sandbacka (ALBATTS, Vamia) and Frank Gielen (EBA Academy, EIT InnoEnergy) in order to discuss qualification strategies covering the entire value chain to overcome skills gaps in the battery industry in Europe.
ALBATTS is a European-funded project with the objective of contributing to the electrification of transport and green energy in Europe by developing a blueprint for competences and training schemes in the battery and electro mobility sector. With the EBA Academy, EIT InnoEnergy is building pan-European education sharing platform. Curricula and training content will be developed based on country-specific industry skills needs in collaboration with local training professionals.
What will be addressed?
- Synergies and differences between qualification strategies
- Development of new job and qualification profiles
- Meeting the training needs of an estimated 800,000 employees
This discussion format is free of charge and opens a channel for critical reflection on important questions that arise within the Important Project of Common European Interest (IPCEI) European Battery Innovation. The IPCEI aims to move the whole value chain to Europe to make Europe a global market player. The event is organised by the accompanying research of the IPCEI (managed by VDI/VDE Innovation + Technik GmbH on behalf of the German Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy). The team promotes the establishment of battery production in Germany and Europe, connects the funded projects with actors of this ecosystem, supports political decision-making processes and moderates stakeholder dialogues.
